First I need to correct an error I made in message 1014 - the name should be Herbert Henry Dow, not Henry Herbert. Sorry about the slip-up.
According to the book (and not something I have independently verified) Herbert Henry Dow was the only son of Joseph Henry Dow and Sarah Jane Bunnell. HHD had 3 sisters. HHD m. Grace A. Ball in 1892 and had 7 children. HHD's father, JHD (b.1836), lived in Cleveland and m. Sarah Jane Bunnell. His parents were Joseph Dow (b. 1807) and Abigail French. Joseph(b. 1807) was the author of Hist. Hampton and his five ancestors in direct line had been town clerks for 100 consecutive years.
Joseph (b. 1807) was the son of Josiah Dow (b. 1764) and Hannah Moulton (she was a widow, so don't know if this was her surname at birth or surname of first husband).
