Still struggling to find connection, but apparently there livedd an Alexander Hamilton Dow b. 1744, wife's given name Mary, who had following children in thinly-populated Warren Co., in NW PA:
Alexander Hamilton (II) Dow b. 1799 Elizabeth Dow b. 1801 m. John Davis Mary Dow b. 1803 Edmund Dow b. 1807 m. Mary (Stoven) Storer; John Dow b. 1812.
These children are said to have been born in Perryopolis, Warren Co., PA.
Now, my Mary -- born 1863/5 -- if related would be a daughter or grand-daughter of one of the above sons of Alexander Hamilton I, but (the overall commonness of given name Mary notwithstanding) having "Marys" both in the first and second generation suggests that there could well have been another in the third, or fourth, and if nothing else we have here DOWS in Warren Co., PA, in which county MY Mary -- wife of William Waid -- appears in Tidioute in 1900 Census (family is known to have moved to Oil City, Venango Co., PA abt. 1909).
Just trying to accumulate clues, here, until I find a definitive answer regarding parentage of Mary b. 1863/5 d. 1952 m. William Donald Waid. She is, again, my great-grandmother, and thus far a "brick wall."
