Hello,My main research is KIDDER, and I am trying to help someone solve a small Kidder mystery.
J. Calvin Kidder was born in 1799 in St. Stephen, NB.In 1830, he moved to Calais, ME, and in 1834, he married Mary Jane WILKINS from Amity, ME.They had at least 7 children born to them, but only 4 lived past Age 25.Three of them were sons .. who settled in or near Princeton, ME:John Kidder, "Calvin" Kidder, and Joseph Kidder.*My ancestor is Joseph Kidder .. and I have a fair amount of information on Joseph and Clarissa (WILKINS) Kidder, and their 6 children.John and "Cal, Jr." are much more difficult to research.
Calvin and Miranda (McLAUGHLIN) KIDDER had 13 children born to them. But, by the 1900 Census, only 5 were still living. And, they had a grandson living with them.I believe three of these children were sons; I don't know about the other two.One of their daughters was Bella or Ella KIDDER, probably born around 1870 in Princeton or Calais, ME.I would very much like to find out how long Bella/Ella lived ..
In the on-line "Maine Archives: Marriages," I found information on a .. Hugh DOW .. marrying a Bella Kidder on 7/2/1904 probably in Calais, ME....I was wondering if anyone knew anything at all about this couple.(Hugh and Bella DOW)
In 1892, one of Calvin and Miranda's daughters gave birth to a son, and his birth-name was James C. McCLELLAN.By 1900, James was living with his grandparents in the Indian Township. Some time between 1900 and 1910, he was adopted by his grandparents, and he was re-named, James Calvin Kidder (grandfather's name)....
I would like to find out if the Bella Kidder who married in Calais, ME, in 1904 .. was the daughter of Calvin and Miranda .. and the mother of .. "James C. McLellan."
