I'm descended from Amy's grandfather Ralzaman Emery, and most of my research has been on the Emery family, but here is a little on Dow (note--some is unverified and/or contradictory): According to her death certificate, Emeline Emery was born 8 Jan 1836, Town of Wright, Schoharie Co., NY, and died 2 Jan 1899, Wright Co., IA; buried @ Clarion, Wright Co., IA.She m. 1 Jan 1866, Jefferson Co., WI, Francis L. (“Frank”) Dow, b. 24 or 25 Dec 1842 (or '40/'43), PA (said to be son of Enos Dow, b. NH or MA or NY, & Maranda or Miranda [surname contradictory], b. PA).On son Alexander’s marriage cert. (1908), Frank Dow’s middle name is shown as “LaFayette,” a coincidence (or error?) as Emeline's eldest brother was Lafayette Emery (d. 1852). On 5 Aug 1850, a possible Enos Dow (b. NY) was enumerated in Mount Pleasant, Wayne Co., PA, with 3 sons including Francis L. (age 7). On 13 Jul 1860, Emeline (age 24) was enumerated with her parents in Dunkirk, Dane Co., WI; F.L. Dow (age 17) was also residing there.Frank was in the Civil War, a member of the GAR, 1861-1865.He was the first Town Clerk of Lake Twp., Wright Co., IA (org. 1879). After Emeline's death, Frank moved to California and apparently died in San Diego, perhaps on either 28 Jan 1928 or 27 Mar 1928; buried @ Clarion, IA.
