Another little interesting note: my ggrandfather was named Lorenzo Dowd Hudson, with the "d" on the end. There have been conflicting family stories of whether he was named for the famous, or should it be infamous, preacher. Certainly my ggrandfather was not religious by any means.
Another story says we came by the Lorenzo from some poor Spaniard come ashore from the Armada!
We do have published documentation of the "d." It was also pronounced differently, as "Dode" and was the name he went by, rather than the Lorenzo. My brother and my son both have Lorenzo as middle names, as well as my grandson!
