This Rev ALS was born in an area that has family connections with the Dows, his parents also show up in similar areas.
Additionally, there were a Mr and Mrs Laurie living along the road from us back inEdinburgh. My father suggested that there was some sort of connection, away far back; so he could not define it.
Another aspect is that he thought there was some sort of connection with the Secession Church and the first meeting down at Tanfield Edinburgh.
The first ALSD of 1839 seems to have been one of the subscribers and contributors to Mc Donald Road Church in Edinburgh, built around 1900 (and not so far from Tanfield), resulting in our having a reserved family pew in it. Because of being owned directly by the congregation and the Deed of Conditions attached to its origins, when it closed, it was demolished immediately to prevent it being used for other purposes.
Most of my father's family lore has proven to have proveable substance, so this ALS just might be part of it.
