I'm part of the "F" line and I'm currently organizing all NJ Census year indexes by counties.I'm trying to narrow down the different families, who belongs to who bit.
Since the Dows have many origins, and names repeated, I'm not sure who the earlier Dows are that belong to my family. We have Dows from Scotland, Holland, England and Ireland in NJ.I've been told I'm of English and Irish descent for my Dows and I don't know which one is correct. In fact, in going through records, my gggrandfather, Joseph Dow is also in records as Josiah Dow.He's buried in the family plot at Mt. Calvary in Butler, NJ as Joseph (among others buried there).
Would you mind sharing the info with me you have on William and John's lines? It will help me figure out what family is what.
Right now, I'm going through info on the Dutch branch that came in through NYC>Albany, NY.I believe Volckert's son Andries was the Dutch Douw Family of Somerset Co.He settled in NYC, so a lot of NYC Dows can be his.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
