Hi Dawn, I just read your post about Ebenezer Dow. Did he have a son John Dow who married Betsy Strout? I just posted a query on Roots Web about John and Betsy that said this:
Hi, Looking for reliable dates and information about John Dow and his wife Betsy/Betsey Strout.
This is what I have so far:I am not sure if this is accurate.
John Dow, born on 27 Jan 1763 in Durham, Androscoggin, Maine, USA; which at the time would have been Massachusetts, not Maine. Maine was not a state yet. It was still part of Massachusetts. He died: 1834 in Avon, Franklin, Maine, USA.
Betsy Strout: b.06 Feb 1775 in Durham, Androscoggin, Maine, USA. Died 26 Feb 1851. I am assuming that it must be in Maine somewhere, but I do not know where.
For Betsy's parents I have: Joshua Strout and Betsy Cobb. I could not find any references to the accuracy of her parents' names.
It seems that their children were born in Maine and that John Dow served in the Revolutionary War. Very exciting history!
Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Liz Dow Maine
