Florence, I know the Dow I'm looking for is quite a common name, but perhaps you have come across either he or his wife in Canterbury or possibly your Book of Dow.His name is Lorenzo Dow (bn.ca 1822), married to Catherine Sarah Betser (christened 1 Jul 1830 in London), d/o Charles Betser and Elizabeth ? [my ggrandfather's marriage license listed his mother's last name as Prester, but this Catherine Sarah Betser seems like a better match] Anyway, According to the 1960 Michigan Census, they moved to Muskegon, MI somewhere between 1852 and 1856 from Canada. The census also listed Lorenzo Dow as being born in New York. The following children were born in Canada: Sara A.(1845), Mary J. (1848), Charles (1852) and Matilda A. (1852). The rest of the children were born in Michigan: Alonzo (1856), Emma(1860), Hartwell(1863),Nicholas Sherman(1864) and Cora E.(1869). My ggfather Nicholas Sherman married in Muskegon in 1888 to Mary Eva Ruby, d/o Archibald Ruby and Rosalie Guy(Gee).Found the info on Catherine Betser and Lorenzo Dow and a marriage for Mary J.Dow on LDS FamilySearch, but the information didn't match the census info. Can you help?
