His second wife was chosen at the conclusion of a sermon when he asked if anyone in the audience wanted to marry him. A woman volunteered and they were married on the spot! The book states that he was never wholly in favor with church authorities, seldom, if ever, accredited to any organization and never with salary or allowances.
