While I was adding that other message on the board today, I just happened to catch a glimpse of the "Straley" name in the book a few pages back (page 193).Tell me if any of these names click:
Betty Dowland b. 4/17/1920 married Amos Straley.Four children are listed:Karen Straley m. Mr. Avery, Floyd Straley, George Straley, and Randy Straley.
According to the text, Betty was the daughter (tenth of eleven children) of Charles Dowland of Michigan.
The section starts with Daniel Dowland of Michigan who was born about 1830 and died 1908."...He married Frances Olive Sternman(?) (1860-1948).His paternal grandfather probably came from England, whose name is unknown to me.After Daniel died in 1908, his widow remarried to John Richmond, and had one daughter by him."
Daniel and Frances Dowland had two children:
1.Charles Dowland b. in Van Buren County, MI 5/14/1877, died 1961.He married Thressa King who was born in Montreal, Canada 12/11/1881, died 1/31/1959.They had eleven children.
2.Maude Dowland 3.Addie Richmond (half sister)
Charles' children were:
Carl, Ellen, Earl, Nina, Adrain, Charles, Addie, Leota, Pearl, Betty (who married Amos Straley, but here it says "Stanley" which may be why I didn't notice before), and Floyd.
Greg, there is quite a bit on these children, several generations in most cases. There is also a photo of Charles Dowland and wife Thressa, and one of their youngest son Floyd. If these are your folks let me know and I'll get copies of these few pages off to you in a jiffy!I hope these are yours!!
