Sorry for taking so long to reply. I don't check these message boards very often, and genealogy.com doesn't send me email when someone replies.
I don't know if Mary L. Drain, (who was married to Madison Falls), had any siblings. She probably did, but I don't know anything about her family. I would like to find out who they were.
Madison Falls was my gggrandfather. I have lots of information on his descendants. Most of his children were from his first wife, Sarah Ann Holland. (14 children) Madison and Mary only had one child, Tommy. As far as I know, Tommy never married or had any children.
Sarah Ann Holland was raised by Solomon Drain in Greene Co. TN, with her mother, Mary Ann (Holland) Drain, though I don't know if he was her natural father. Mary Ann and Solomon Drain had three children that I know of. They were James M., Thomas and John. From there, my notes are fuzzy. I know that James M. Drain married Melvina Falls. I wonder if Melvina was Madison Falls' sister. (They appear together on the 1850 Greene Co. TN census with a woman named Delia, but in that census her name is transcribed as Melina.) I have John Drain as being married to Emma Davis, and having eight children. They were Thomas, Mary E., Virginia, Sarah, James H., Mattie, William Reason and John.
I don't know of a connection with a Sherrill family.
Some question I have about Mary L. Drain:
...Who were her parents? Her siblings?
I do know that she stated in a letter once that she was born in Jasper, Newton County, AR. She died in Independence County, AR and is buried at Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Cushman.
I did find out that Mary's first husband's name was Enos Whaley. Enos had been previously married to a Sallie Ann Falls! I wonder if there is a blood-line connection between this Sallie Ann Falls and Madison Falls.
Does anyone have any information they can share on these families and how they're related? I'd like to know who the descendants are of Solomon Drain. I think Mary L. Drain may have been descended from him somehow.
Deanne
