Does anyone have a line of John R. Drake abt. 1812 who married a Martha __________? The information I found was that they lived in Northampton County. They had 4 sons:
William Francis Drake 1838-1930
Richard Drake 1843
James Drake 1845
John Drake 1849
The oldest son, William Francis Drake, was a Capt. in the Confederacy. He was a suvivor of the first battle between the Ironclads - The Merrimac and The Monitor. According to his obit., he was a native of Northampton County, taught high school, and spent the last 28 yrs. of his life in the Confederate Home, and is buried in the Confederate section of the Oakland cemetary in Raleigh.I am wondering if this branch of the Drakes is related to any of the Drakes from NH/NJ from which I am descended.
