My name is Cor Draijer and since a while I'm searching for people with the name Draijer, Drayer or Draaijer. This is for indexing the family stamtree and untill now we have found out that in the Netherlands the family-name Draijer is from 'Lijndraaier' what the profession of ropemaker was. A picture can be found on my website: www.draijer.net and unfortunately it is only in Dutch (yet). Do you have any relations with the Netherlands, because Drayer is a typical Dutch name, common used by people who immigrated to the United States because Draijer was allways misspelled and therefore they changed there name when they were building up a new live in a new country with a new name. Recently I found another person in the United States with the name Draijer and he wrote me an e-mail that he is from Holland and that he will change his name in Drayer soon, because everyone is misspelling his name. (Do I misspell things also here?)We have found out that one of the very very first forefathers got his name around 1600 when he started a company for making rope in the village Zandvoort, wellknown from the formule-1 car-racing about 10 years ago. Also the name Drayer is mentioned a few times by a priest and was misspelled in a book where he wrote down the newborn children of the village Zandvoort and the father and mother and witnesses.
