French Document about Marie Chaplier and Nicolas Drouin
Here’s a document you may find interesting about «Robert Drouin»
In 1676, the half-naked body of Martin Guerard has been discovered on the shore of «Ile d’Orleans».
His death will result in a resounding trial. From the transcripts, we learn that following a fire at his house, Martin and his wife had moved to the house of Louis Lepage. Martin left on Tuesday March 17th on his way to Château-Richer, to the Sault-à-la-Puce mill. They suspect his wife and René Ouellet (my ancestor) to have killed him and to have thrown his body on the shore. Sébastienne Loignon, wife of Louis Lepage, declares that René Ouellet and Marie Boette had made plans to get married. Due to insufficient evidence, the case is dropped (Great for me!).
Here’s the transcript of the case. (8Mb document).

What’s interesting for you is that they did interviewed «Marie Chapelier» and «Nicolas Drouin» about the case. They were neighbour of Rene Ouellet.
The document is a type version of the original. On the original we have the signature of Marie Chapelier. The document is in Old French, so it’s hard to read. They answer to questions been asked. So it's like having a small conversation with your one of your 300-year-ancestor.
I hope you’re speaking French…
Regards
Robert Ouellet
