Does anyone have any information on the parentage of Judith DuCHESNE (c.1605-____) or her husband Pierre LeMOYNE (c.1600-____)?They were parents of the famous Charles LeMOYNE de Longueuil (1626-1685), and grandparents of Charles's famous LeMOYNE sons, among whom were the founders of New Orleans, Louisiana.
I believe the Canadian National Biographies and other such works intimate that Judith DuChesne was the sister of another early Canadian notable, Dr. Adrien DuCHESNE (c.1600-aft.1656).
I believe that the LeMOYNE and the DuCHESNE families were from Normandy or the Belgian border areas of Flanders or Paicardy in what is now Northern France.I have some of these items in my notes, but nothing directly in fornt of me as I type this.In any event, I am interested in discovering the parentage of these French Canadian cavaliers and pioneers.
I am apparently descended from Charles LeMOYNE's sister Jeanne LeMOYNE (c.1635-1682), who married Jacques LeBER (c.1633-1706).Their son was Jacques LeBER de Senneville (c.1670-1735).
The LeMOYNE's, DuCHESNE's, LeBER's, and CAVELIER's were among the earliest settlers of what is now Montreal, Canada.
Among Charles LeMOYNE's legendarily famous sons were Pierre LeMOYNE d'Iberville (1661-1706), the most famous soldier of New France (Quebec and Louisiana); and Jean-Baptiste LeMOYNE de Bienville (1680-1767), the founder of New Orleans, Louisiana, & Biloxi, Mississippi, & Mobile, Alabama, and the first provisional French Royal Governor of Louisiana, serving 3 times, from 1701-1707; 1718-1722; & 1733-1743.
Can anyone help trace these DuCHESNE and LeMOYNE families back into their ancestral descent in France?
Thanks, and God Bless, Rev. Matt Underwood, Baptist Minister email@example.com
