I believe I may be a descendent of a branch of William Kirk Duer's family. My great great grandfather was Daniel Duer who died October 21, 1858. Daniel was a farmer and fruit raiser who lived on a farm one mile west of Millersburg. Not quite sure of how they may have been related. An 1875 Atlas of Millersburg on P. 27 has a W.K. Duer listed as a painter with a shop on Railroad St. in Millersburg and in a 1907 directory has W.K. Duer living on Mad Anthony St. S. in Millersburg. I don't have anything at this time to indicate how or if they are related. The only other Duer listed in Millersburg at that time is Elijah J. Duer, my great grandfather. Elijah was an attorney, a postmaster in Millersburg, and served as Mayor. W.K. Duer had a son Charles who was a founding director of Killbuck Savings Bank and served as Cashier of the Bank until he died at the age of 37on April 1,1908 in Killbuck (b. 10-20-1870).Hope this may be of some help.
