MRS. MARY DUFFY JULY 5, 1895
On Sunday morning, June 30, at three o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Dorn, living north of Piper City, occurred the death of Mrs. Mary Duffy, and old and highly respected resident of this community. Mrs. Duffy was born in Ireland sixty-eight years ago and came to America fifty-one years ago. In 1869 she came, with her husband and family, to this vicinity and located on a farm north of this city and resided in this community from that time until 1891, when she went to Denver. Mr. Duffy, having died September 1, 1884. About one year ago she returned to Illinois and had since made her home with her daughter. For several months past Mrs. Duffy had been in feeble health, and her death, although not expected, was a shock to relative and friends. She leaves, besides many friends, four sons and one daughter and two sisters, four sons and one daughter having preceeded her to the other world. The funeral services were held at the Piper City Catholic church on Tuesday morning and the remains laid to rest in the Chatsworth Catholic cemetery, beside those of eight others of her relatives, including husband , children and grandchildren. The funeral train was very large.
