"Marion W. Duffie" married Nancy (or Mary) F. Kanady/Kennedy, April 14, 1854 in Lowndes Co., AL (marriage performed by D. Peebles). I haven't seen the original marriage record, and transcripts have different first names -- some have "Nancy F." and others have "Mary F."
Does anyone have Nancy/Mary F. KANADY/KENNEDY in a family tree? Who were her parents and siblings? We've been tracing Kennedys in Lowndes Co., AL, and can't fit her into any families there or in surrounding counties.
Marion and Nancy's/Mary's son "H. W." was born in Alabama about 1855, and in 1860, Marion was married to a second wife, Jane K. Sanders, and living in Jasper Co., Mississippi (her Sanders family was in Newton Co., Miss. in the 1850 census). So, first wife Nancy/Mary must have died 1855-1859.
1855 Alabama State census: M. W. Duffee was counted in Lowndes Co., AL, with 1 white male over 21, 1 white male under 21, 1 white female over 21, and 7 slaves.
1860 census - Jasper Co., Mississippi. Post Office: Twistwood, page 387.

Marion W. Duffee enlisted in the 37th Mississippi Infantry Regiment, CSA, and died in 1864, as Kenny Melton's military research shows:
5/13/64 - Duffee, Marion W. - Co. H - Died in Fair Ground Hospital No., 2 at Atlanta, GA., from gunshot wound.
I'll be glad to share research notes with anyone interested in this family and especially the KENNEDYS of Lowndes Co., Alabama.
