Hi Michael, Ok I'm going to say it is the same person as the James I have information on was born in Gubbarudda, Arigna on 23-07-1843. He was one of seven children born. They were Catherine - D.O.B 30-03-1835 Patrick - D.O.B 29-10-1837(My husband Dominics' great grandfather) John - D.O.B 30-08-1839 Mary - D.O.B 25-07-1841 James - D.O.B 23-07-1843 Thomas - D.O.B 01-03-1846 Peter - D.O.B 29-06-1850 Facts known: Catherine married Owen Glynn from Carnalt, Arigna. Mary married Owen Tansey from Stonepark, Keadue. James married Ann Brady from Derrinisky, Arigna.
Their parents were James & Elizabeth. Elizabeth was the daughter of Patrick Mcmanus from Tullytawen, Arigna. Her father had a coal mine in the townland of Gubbarudda which is now known as Kenneths pit. The first mention of (the father) James is in Parish records was when he was godfather to a Charles Reynolds in 1828. My reason for thinking this James is your great grandfather is their is a family of Duignans in Arigna who used to own the post office, I have just recently discovered the conection between them and us not being from here I'm not sure of all the townland names and never realised Derrinisky and Derrinavoggy where the post office is are right next to each other. This family I don't know, but it makes sense they are related. Hope this help you. Phillipa.
