After receiving several e-mail and searching several web sites I believe that I now have my mystery of Hypolite Mercier and Hipolite Chauvin solved. These are two different ladies.Below is what I have come up with and now feel comfortable about posting this in my working data base. Do let me know if you are not comfortable with my end results. Married about 1709: Hypolite Mercier from LaRocehlle (widow of surgeon-major of the colony, Valentin Barraud) married Sieur de Lery Joseph Chauvin son of Pierre-dit-GrandPierre Chauvin and Marie-Marthe Hautreux/Autreuil.Joseph Chauvin died on 19 Aug 1732.
Married March 19, 1750 Kaskaskia, Illonoise: Joseph Dulignon-dit-Lamirande (his parents Pierre Dulignon-dit-Lamirande and Marguerite Jarlais-dit-St.Amand Hipolyte Chauvin-dit-LaFreniere (illegitimate daughter of Nicolas Chauvin-DeLaFreniere and Katherine an Indian? Slave) & (widow of Joseph Turpin).
