My gg-grandmother was a Rebecca Dumond (June 8, 1820 -Oct 28, 1898).She married Adam Brown in Sandusky Co. in 1840,(Diamond in the marriage record. They lived in Ottawa Co. then 1860 Kankakee Co.Illinois where her husband died in 1866. She remarried in 1868 Whaley.
My uncle had a letter that was written to her.I don’t recall a year on it, but it was from her brother William H. Dumond from Indiana.I found a William H. Dumond in Clay Township, La Grange County, IN in the 1850.I was hoping to maybe find his obit or some more info about his family to see if she is connected. The 1850 census shows: Wm H. Dumond27 farmer, OH; Abgail Dumond 26, OH; Daniel W, 6, OH; Tilman 4, IN; George 2, IN; and Robert 3/12, IN. (the census date was listed Sept 4, 1850). Since this is the only William H. or Wm. whose birth years is near Rebecca’s, wonder if he is her brother.
Does any of this connect to your family and if so, would you know if Wm H. had a sister named Rebecca?
An interesting item was in Brown’s probate record, a Lewis/Louis Guise was listed with her as the administrator’s bond.I am told by Guise/Whaley descendants that Lewis Guise’s wife maiden name was listed as DeMond.Make us wonder if she (Sara) and Rebecca are related- age wise could be cousins or sisters.
