Pearl U. Duncan, 101, passed away peacefully at her son's home on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
Pearl was born on March 10, 1911, to the late Frank K. and Laura Viola Wyrick Umberger. She was a charter member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and was always considered as someone who deeply cared for others.
Along with her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Lester (PI) Duncan; sister, Lynette Wilson; and her brothers, Elmer Umberger and Frank Umberger.
She is survived by her son, Larry Duncan and special daughter-in-law Ann, of Kingsport, TN; her daughter Jane Tarkington and husband Carlton, of Brentwood, TN; one sister, Mary (Polly) Testerman, of Loma Linda, CA; six grandchildren, Lisa (Duncan) Hartley and husband David, Michael Duncan and wife Sharon, Julia LaPenna and husband Richard, Jill Baltz and husband Chris, Jennie Mills and husband Kevin, and Jan Blanton and husband John; step- grandson, Bruce Tarkington and wife Jaclyn; nineteen great- grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow with Reverend Mickey Rainwater officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Resurrection.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
