Ronald Augustus Duncan, 72, passed away from us on
September 18, 2012, at the Bristol Regional Medical
Ron was born January 15, 1940, in Bristol, TN, and lived
his life in the rolling hills of East Tennessee. He is the
son of Bert and Maimey Duncan, of Bristol, and was a
graduate of Holston Valley High School.
Ron was a strong and caring husband, father, and grand-
father. He thrived on helping others anytime it was needed
or anytime it was asked of him. He worked the last 16
years with his son Roger Duncan in Riverside Home
Renovation. Previously he worked for 30 years at Sprint as
a Cost Accounting Manager. Ron also spent two years in the
US Army, stationed in Germany. He will be deeply missed by
all that knew him.
Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Lou Duncan;
his son, Chris Duncan and wife Taisa Duncan, and son,
Roger Duncan and wife Keena Duncan; four grandchildren,
Kyla Duncan, Taylor Duncan, Nicholas Duncan and Ashlyn
Duncan; brothers, Don Duncan, Doug Duncan and wife Janice,
and Rick Duncan and wife Rhonda; sister, Carol Roberts and
husband Halvey; sisters-in-law, Janie Wise, Margie Wynes,
and Doris Bullock; brothers-in-law, Edward Morrell and
wife Sue, Reford Morrell and wife Pauline, and Gilbert
Morrell and wife Dot.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr.
Brett Odum, Dr. Sue Prill and staff, and Dr. Greg Griffith
for their support and loving care.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., on
Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Weaver Funeral Home in
Bristol, TN. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at
8 p.m., with Minister Steve Page officiating and Rev. Jeff
The burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2012, in
the Shipley Graveyard. Pallbearers will be Bobby Malone,
Durrell Wise, Garth Blackburn, Herbert Morrell, Matt
Duncan, Jeff Morrell, Dave Cox, and Eddie Morrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Trivette Paul Carlisle,
Dr. Brett Odum, Dr. Allen Marsh, John Schyers, Mike Brown,
Mickey Brown, Bobby Sturgill, Rod Champion, Wayne Duncan,
and Robert Perry.
Memorials may be made to the Central Holston Church
building fund at 261 Sandbar Road, Bristol, TN, or the
Virginia Avenue Baptist Church Youth Department at 1401
Virginia Avenue, Bristol, TN.
