I had an inqiry today regarding posting living descendent lines and thought it worth address in the forum. Geneologists (and buffs) must respect the privacy of living descendent lines and NOT POST their info to public places without express consent. I try to be very careful in this practice and limit my postings to public info from this forum, Ancestry.com, LDS, and RootWeb websites. These sites generally list "Living" and conceal identities of those not wishing to participate. When individuals send me their lines, I highlight any info they have requested remain confidential and I don't post that publically. (Should you find that I've slipped up, please let me know!!)
Please be advised that when anyone posts to this site, the info becomes public and then the original poster is responsible for subsequent violations (and errors-in-fact) if other researchers pass the info along. In which case, the poster should go back and delete the entries in question. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but just wanted to remind everyone we have a duty of privacy as well as "accuracy"!
