Does anyone know exactly where is the cemetery of the now gone Cold Spring Baptist Church, the first Baptist church in PA? Cold Spring is apparently in what is now Edgely, PA, in Bucks Co., but I'd like to know exactly where it is.
Thomas Dungan came to NE in early childhood. He is assumed to have been educated by Gov. Roger Williams or his brother Robert, who was a school master in Newport RI. Dungan, Rev. Thomas, was born in Ireland. Was a resident of RI. In 1684 he came to PA and settled 3 miles north of Bristol, at Cold Spring, where he organized the first Baptist church in PA, built a meeting house, and secured a grave yard. He was the first Baptist minister in PA. In 1688 Thomas Dungan converted and baptized Elias Keach, and sent him forth as a minister . Keach established tho Lower Dublin church community (oldest in PA). He d 1688. Bef 1692 it is nearly certain the church had ceased to exist. He was buried in the graveyard surrounding the church, as was Dr. Benjamin Rush. The church was 2 miles from Tullytown, Bucks Co PA. By 1770 his descendants numbered 600-700 people. per the Baptist Encyclopedia, by Evert, 1881. Thomas Dungan b London 13 feb 1634 to William Dungan and Frances Weston.
