In 1898, my great great great grandfather, William Wilson Dunlap, had his biography appear in a book. He was born May 13, 1827 Brady Twp., Clearfield Co., Pa. and died April 7, 1907 Union Twp., near Rockton, Clearfield Co., Pa. He served in the 172nd Pa. Vol. Inf. in 1862-63.
On May 11, 1854 Adaline Luther, the dau. of Roswell and Julia A. (Best) Luther, of Luthersburg, Clearfield Co., Pa.
she was born Sept. 20, 1835 in Luthersburg and died Oct.29, 1905. they are buried at the Rockton Cemetery in Rockton Clearfield Co., Pa.

Wm. W. Dunlap bio, page 926-27:
Unknown Dunlap, b. in Germany, came and settled in Maryland, than to Centre Co.(during Revolution), and finally Clearfield Co.(after Revolution). He died in Clearfield Co., Pa. He married Margaret Kirkpatrick.
They had four children:
1.William Dunlap, a farmer of Pike Twp., father of nine,
three are still living (1898).
2.David Dunlap, never married, lived with his brother Alex-
ander Dunlap in Brady Twp., where he died.
3.James D. Dunlap, was married and had one son,who died
in infancy; he and his wife continued to reside with his
parents until their deaths.
4.Alexander Dunlap, born in Centre Co., came with parents
to Clearfield Co., locating in Lawrence Twp., engaging
in farming until he and his brother James moved to Brady
Twp. in 1824, being among the first settlers of the Twp.
Alexander Dunlap married Margaret Dunlap, and had eight
A.Elizabeth Dunlap m. John Hoel, a shoemaker. they had ten
children and settled in Wayne Co., Pa.
B.Catherine Dunlap m. Mike Breon, formerly a shoemaker of
Brady Twp. they had eight children.
C.Samuel C. Dunlap m. Hannah Horn, a farmer of Brady Twp.,
had three children. after hannah died he married 2nd to
Katie Ellinger, and had six children, four of whom
are still living in Brady Twp. (1898).
D.James Wallace Dunlap m. Sarah Dunlap. residents of Brady
Twp. they have three sons.
E.Jane Dunlap m. James Fulton. He conducted a hotel in
Luthersburg, clearfield co., for a number of years,
removed to Jefferson Co., Pa. but now reside in Clarion
Co., Pa. running a hotel.
F.Mary Dunlap m. Stephen Ross, a agriculturist from
Armstrong Co., Pa. they have seven children.
G.Alexander Dunlap m. Lucy Lowder. residents of Sabula,
Clearfield Co., Pa. they have five children, one is now
H.William Wilson Dunlap m. May 11, 1854 to Miss Adaline
Luther of Luthersburg, dau. of Roswell and Julia Best
Luther. 1854-56, resided in Luthersburg. 1856-59,
resided in Bloomington. 1859-62 returned to Luthersburg.
resided in Luthersburg 1862-1873, in 1873 moved to Union
Twp., near Rockton and have remained (1898). Served in
the Civil War Oct. 16, 1862-Aug.28, 1863. (172nd Pa.).
His health was shattered by his service. he now receives
a pension of $30 month (1898). Both Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap
are members of the Methodist Church, and are held in the
highest regard by a large circle of friends. Politically,
he is a ardent Democrat; has served his fellow citizens
as school director and overseer of the poor, and is held
in highest regard.
They had eight children:
1.Roswell Dunlap, died in infancy.
2.Martin Dunlap m. Edna Huff. residents of Union Twp., they
have seven children.
3.Julia Ann Dunlap m. John W. Clouser, a farmer of Union
Twp., they have a son, Harry E. Clouser.
4.Esther Dunlap m. James I. Forcey, who conducts a rest-
urant in Munson, Clearfield Co.
5.Jefferson A. J. Dunlap m. Jennie Orr of Rockton. she died
in 1890. they had two sons: M. R. and E. A. Dunlap.
6.M. B. Luther m. Clara Ross of Jefferson Co. residents
of Sigel, Jefferson Co.,they have three children.
7.Mary E. Dunlap m. Harvey Shankle, a farmer of Indiana Co.
They have four children.
