Hello Gary, I am not sure. I have only gone back as far as 1880 Census. And my only living link to the past has gone and left me for a better place. My dear mother died this past October. On the 1880 census, it does have that J.G. Dunn and Adline's, parents both, came from SC. Here is what I have in the way the line goes:
J.G. Dunn born in GA (Mother and Farther born in SC.) Married Adline(unknown maiden name)born in GA (Mother and Farther born in SC.) J.G.and Adline had the following children:
William H. Dunn sonage in 1880 8 yrs. John T. Dunnsonage in 1880 6 yrs. Marcelluss Dunn sonage in 1880 4 yrs. Lavada Dunndauage in 1880 3 yrs. *Hardy Dunnsonage in 1880 5 mths W. J. Mitchellstepson age in 1880 18 yrs.
Now, William H. Dunn the son of J.G. and Adline is my Great - Grandfather.
J.G. Dunn is my real/only and last, connection to the Dunn family in SC. Although, Adline's parents came from SC also she is only a Dunn by marriage. So, before 1880 I don't know. My Hardy was only 5 months old in 1880. But your Hardy could be an Uncle or Grandfather. Because 1810 to 1880 is 70 years. Do you have a census or other showing any other names before 1880. Showing J.G. Dunn? (I do not know what the J or G stands for.) I hope this helps. I also have the 1900 and the 1910 Census. Thanks! Please, keep me informed of what you find. Who knows!
