I met, almost by accident, the author of the book 'Dunsire Families of Fife' when on my journey from Hampshire to visit my family in Fife.
It transpired that he and I were relatives, although somewhat distant. He did explain to me that the name of Dunsire originated in Lanarkshire where there is a hamlet 'Dunsire'. WEhen the coalfields inLanarksghire closed and the miners left to join the coalfields in Fife being opened by the Earl of Wemyys, they took with them the name of the place where they had been born and bred over many many years.
Hence, the large numbers of 'Dunsire's' still residuing in the area.
