Thomas Durfey was baptized 26 MAR 1639 at St Andrew, Holborn, London, England, the son of Severinus Durfey and his first wife, Ann.I discovered the entry first in FamilySearch as I entered creative spellings of Durfey. Then when it popped up, I found this marvelous entry on the image at Ancestry.com, pg 1 of 14 for Christenings, 25 March 1639 through 25 March 1640.The entry is beautifully clear, but notated as "Tho. Sonne", a glitch, but Severinus and Ann "Duriffy" are easily seen. Found by JRD, 3/25/2013.

British historical publicatins have long listed a Severinus Durfey as the father of playwright, Tom, in 1653, but now we see that Severinus (Sr) died in 1645, and son Severinus (jr) was his father, and his mother the British Frances, perhaps related to dramatist Shackerly Marmion. Another child, a Durfey daughter born in 1652 did not survive, likely their first child. Severinus (jr) married Judeth Masservy, 5 APR 1662, Saint Katherine By The Tower, London, England.Exciting, eh?
