I don't have Durgin ancestry, but while researching my old house, I found a connection to the Durgins of Maine. My house in Lisbon, ME was owned by a Horace C. Atwood throughout most of the 1800's.Horace's father, John Atwood,Jr. b. May 15, 1806, had a sister, Lucinda S. Atwood, b. Feb. 13, 1809.Lucinda married Benjamin Cotton Durgin, b. 1808.
While researching at the Lisbon Historical Society, I came across an old book called "Decendants of Benjamin C. Durgin" which was printed in the 1800s or early 1900s.This book has photos of the old Durgin homesteads in the Lisbon area as well as photos of some family members. Some of the old homesteads are still standing in Lisbon.
Feel free to contact me if you would like more info on this book or to view a few of the photos.
