I recently found a death record that indicates John Robert Durham, born in 1802 in Stokes County, NC as a possible child of William Durham and Susanna Hatcher. This "Robert Durham" married Elizabeth "Eliza" Trollinger 25 May 1835 in Montgomery County, VA and later moved to Giles County, VA. Here's the record:
Robert Durham Virginia, Deaths and Burials, 1853-1912 birth: 1805 Stoke Co., N. C. death: 25 May 1883 Staffordville, Giles, Virginia
name: Robert Durham gender: Male death date: 25 May 1883 death place: Staffordville, Giles, Virginia age: 78 birth date: 1805 birthplace: Stoke Co., N. C. occupation: Miller race: White marital status: Married indexing project (batch) number: B07503-9 system origin: Virginia-EASY source film number: 31740
I also, located a Chancery court record that shows the children of William Durham and Susanna "Susan" Hatcher as Nancy, Elizabeth, Armistead, ROBERT, Polly (Mary), Patty, and Austin. The Stokes County, NC 1820 Census shows that there were 3 young males and 2 young females living with William and Susan. Nancy married Larkin Burge and Elizabeth married Hiram Vernon in 1817, so it's most likely they had moved out by 1820. The court record also shows a "Mary Durham" married to a "Campbell". I believe this "Mary Durham" would later marry Drury Burge.Austin Durham is a bondsman for this marriage.
The odd thing is the court record shows "Patty Durham" (Martha "Patsy" Durham" married to a Yates, but I believe Martha Patsy (Durham) Yates was a daughter of Gregory Durham and Elizabeth Shelton according to a deed made in 1816 Stokes County, NC which list "Patty" Yates as a daughter with husband William Yates.
