I'm not sure of her exact birthdate, but it's probably in Feb 1891.A cursory look through the Baltimore birth register at the Maryland State Archives didn't help, but I will look again. Here's how she appears in the 1900/10 censuses:
1900 census (5 Jun) Baltimore, MD. Ward 22. 921 McHenry St. Anna Durkin, 9 yrs old, b. Feb 1891, b. MD, parents b. Ireland. Living w/parents Michael and Hannah Durkin.
1910 census (27 Apr) Baltimore, MD. Ward 18. 852 Pratt St. Anna M. Durkin, 19 yrs old, single, occupation: street maid, b. MD, parents b. Ireland. Living w/parents Michael L. and Hannah N. Durkin.
A few months later (on 9 Jul 1910) she and George Oscar Banks are listed in the Baltimore Marriage Register. She's still listed as being 19 years old.
I got her father's death certificate from the MD archives. He died on 10 Jun 1916 at 852 W Pratt St. in Baltimore. She was the informant, listed as "Anna Banks," and living at 411 N Howard St. in Baltimore. At that point, I'm not sure if she's still living with her husband or was living elsewhere...
George Oscar Banks joined the Army about 1916 and served in the cavalry during WWI.In the 1920 census he's listed as being stationed at Ft. Myer Military Reservation in Alexandria (now Arlington) County, VA and his marital status is listed as single.I don't know much about his life, but he spent the rest of his years living in Leonardtown, MD and outside of Washington, DC working various odd jobs such as a barber and doing vaudeville and blackface. He didn't have much of a part in raising his daughter Mary Geneva Banks (my grandmother), as she was raised primarily by her grand-aunts Rosa & Ida Drummond. He died in 1968 at the Soldier's Home in Washington, DC.
If Anna Durkin was born in Baltimore, she may have been baptised at St. Peter the Apostle as well (since it was a big Irish Catholic church at the time).I'll see if I can obtain her baptismal record.Other than that, I'm not sure if she moved anywhere else, or died young or remarried... I thought the easiest thing right now would be to see if there are any Durkins from this family that may know what happened to her.
