What does DNA testing mean to me? It means that the names that have been tested so far are all related. I would like to encourage anyone MALE with the SURNAME DURRETT to participate -- especially if you live in the USA, England or France.
Our early Durrett’s were French Huguenots and fled France and went to England. They left England and came to America in the late 1600s or early 1700s and settled in the commonwealth of Virginia. One of our ancestors, Richard Durrett, owned the Plantation WAKEFIELD in Albemarle County, VA. Others lived in Franklin, Spotsylvania, James City to name a few. From here the settled across the United States.
You can find many Durrett ancestors that fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War were brothers fought against brothers.
So if you are stumped and have hit a brick wall now is the time to do a DNA test. This will help break down your brick wall and help us see the bigger picture.
