This sounds very familiar Mary. My husband's line originates from Holland with Hendrick Hendrickson Von Doesburg around the year 1630. Maybe he is the son of the Hendrick you mentioned. This is what I was told by a researcher in the family:
Hendrick was one of 3 brothers who came to America around 1630. One returned to Holland. The 2 who remained, Henry and John, or Hendrick and Johannes settled in and around the Albany, New York region. Hendrick married Maritie Damen. The name was changed to Dusenberry by a town clerk because of the town they came from, which was Doesburg in the province of Gilderland. Hendrick Hendrickson Von Doesbury means Hendrick, son of Henry, from Doesburg.
Also I was told that the Dusenberry family originally owned the land that is now known as Wall Street. Somewhere on Wall Street, sorry I don't have more details, there still hangs a large family portrait of the Dusenberry Family.
I haven't done much searching into this line yet. I have some info given to me by a family member. But now that we have our own Dusenbury forum, I am ready to get busy on it!
