I'm virtually certain that "Teetje Martens" is an error. Not only is it extremely similar to Jan Willemszen's stepmother's name (Leentje Martens), there is no documentation of "Teetje" unless you count the numerous "citations" on the 'net where this piece of apparent misinformation has been copied over and over.Leentje, on the other hand, is well documented; New York Genealogic and Biographical Record. Volume 40, pp. 185-193, 249-258, and Volume 41, pp. 44-54, 109-120, 140-155. July 1909, September 1909, January 1910, April 1910, July 1910 all make mention of her, and she is mentioned in the very well researched "Dutcher Register Report" at
At the moment, I think there is no decisive information, with a reliable source, which pinpoints the origins, parents, or birthplace of Margrietje Cornelisse, wife of Jan Willemszen Duytser.
