The confusion of a Greek origin centers around a Greek suffix and the Word Discus which looks and sounds simular.

The suffix -ikos was apparently one of the most frequently used in Greek, and it formed adjectives, -ikos meant "of", "pertaining to", or "in the manner of".
I'm affraid there are Dicus sound alikes all over the world.
