I descend from the Dyes of Moore Co, NC. WM Dye & Sarah Barbara Hughes were born there. Then their Son William Westley Dye. Then WW had 9 kids, the males are:
1. John Dye 1840(for sure) - 1911(I think, I found a tombstone with these dates that seem to be he.)
2. David Turner Dye 1844-1916 my GGF. He was a CSA soldier.
3. Martin Evander Dye 1846- can't find him after that.
4. Wm Westley Dye 1850 - 1920.
5. Archibald Dye 1851-1939.
I know for fact that David Turner Dye lost a brother in the war right after he signed up and he turned against war and became a Methodist Circuit Preacher although he finished his time in the war as a Chaplain. It would appear to be Martin Evander Dye that was killed, his younger brother and looks like three of them signed up together but the UDC doesn't have any record of him being killed so I don't know where to look at this point to confirm his death.
