I have an abstract from the pension of Henry N. Dyke who served the Civil War, C. E, 1st Mass. Hard Artillery.
It shows Henry Nathan Dyke: his parents as Benj. Dyke and Clarissa Carpenter. Henry b. 1-8-1842, New Hamp. and died 8-18-1926, at age 84 yrs. 7 mo. and 10 days. Benjamin Dyke born at Cabot, Vermont. Clarissa born at Littleton, NH.
Henry married Carrie Julia Johnson, (or Caroline) dau. of Samuel Johnson and Malvina Norris both of Stanbridge, Bedford District of Quebec, Canada., on 9-14-1867.
Sam and Malvina Johnson both buried in Blossom Hill cem. at Concornd NH, by Kilkenny and Calkin.
Caroline Johnson Dyke b. 8-8-1845, Ca. died 1935, and had resided in the U.S. for 65 years.
Six children by Henry and Carrie. Henry I. Dyke eldest son of Henry and Carrie. Fred Dyke is a son. Dau. Bessie married Clarence Ed. Burchsted or Burcksted, a vet surgeon and Bessie was a dressmaker. It appears she later married a Stewart. Florence Claire Dyke married a Mr. Leon French age 28 and she was 23, in 1910, Concord, NH. Florence a water colorist, and Leon French a silversmith. Fred Dyke, 56, was living at 17 Robinson st. Somerville, Mass. in 1926. Fred says he has a brother Herbert and 4 other brothers and sisters, so I don't know if there were 6 or more children. (conflicting data).
Burchsted's parents listed as Benj. Ed. Burchsted and Susan Louise Parker, of Hamerhill, Mass.
Florence Dyke's husbands parents listed as Russell B. French and Helen A. Smith of Plainfield, NH.
Carrie Johnson had a sister Orcelia Johnson and brother Hadley Johnson of Quebec, Can and Hadley was living in Bedford, Quebec, in 1909. Carrie was in Saco in Maine, in 1909.
That's all I have on them. I don't know of any personal connection, just passing this along. Hope that helps in some way. Janice
