Victor Claude Dykes, Sr., 81, of Rogersville, Hawkins Co TN, passed away, Saturday, August 21, 2010, at his residence.
He was retired from Holston Defense after 25 years of service and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Dykes was preceded in death by his son, Mark Dykes; parents, Eldridge C. and Gertha Bussell Dykes; and sister, Dorothy Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Vergie Parvin Dykes; daughter, Hope Stewart and husband Lee, of Raleigh, NC; sons, Victor Dykes, Jr. of the home, and Chris Dykes of Rogersville, TN; grandchildren, Amy S. Dykes, Jared Stewart and Lindsey Stewart; great-granddaughter, Abby Dykes; brother, Rholan Dykes and wife Emma, of Rogersville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Funeral service will be conducted 7 p.m., Sunday, August 22, 2010, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Riley Jones officiating.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2010, at Highland Cemetery.
