I have been digging into our family history, too, and you and I must be related. Jessie (or Jesse) was the only son of Isaac Eads in Missouri to move to Texas according to two different sources. Jessie had eleven children with his wife Elizabeth Mueller or Miller.
4 of those children died in the North Texas region, particularly Denton County. There's even a city commissioner there now by the name of Andy Eads. Jessie was my grandfather's great-great-grandfather. My grandfather and his brothers all had deep red hair, and this Andy Eads has red hair, too.
My grandfather's great-grandfather moved from, Texas finally settled in Oklahoma, and as far as I know he was the only one who went up there. That is where my grandfather was born.
There is a book on the history of Denton County I found on Google Books, and I'll share the link to it along with another site. This other site is from another's family history, and contains a lot of information I found to be very useful.
I hope I'm not repeating anything you already know, but I'd like to hear back from you and know more about the Eadses where you are!
Website on Eads geneology: (The names are linked by the numbers to the left of the name. If you click on the "2." next to Jessie, it will take you to his family where you will see all of Jessie's children and there linking numbers. I was able to find my great-grandfather through here based on information from my grandfather's recollections.)
