A new family story has come to light that may or may not be true. We all know how old family stories go, but most do a bit of truth in them. From a descendant of the Rev. E. B. Eakin [b. 1822 in Ms.] states: "(REV.) Edmund Bishop EAKIN Born: abt 1830 Died: abt 1919 According to my photo album, He was educated in Ireland to be a Catholic priest. However, in America, he became a Baptist minister in Texas. "
If you do a time line on this man there is not really time for him to be Ireland and he became a Minister in Ms. So I am thinking that the story was confused somehow. In your search on the Rev. John Akin did anything like this show up?
E. B. Eakin is believed to the s/o William Eakin and Amy unknown, he was born 1780 in Ireland. But first child, David, was born 1806 in Tn. I now have the marriage bond on William Eakin and Ann Bishop, April 17,1804, in Davidson Co.,Tn. When you look at the copy it is not Ann Bishop but Ami or Ame Bishop. William Eakin and Nathaniel McCrary signed the bond.
