Robert- Yes, my James Marion Smith born in SC 3 Oct 1831 married 1) Susan Elizabeth Kirby 8 Nov 1849 SC and 2) Melissa Shipper or Shippey after Susan died which was 23 Mar 1875. James died 8 Nov 1904. James and both wives are buried in Wellington, Calhoun Co. Susan was d/o James KIRBY and Lucinda DRAPER. Susan's sister Nancy was Martha Easterwood Burgess' daughter-in-law which we've discussed before. It appears the Calhoun Co. AL Kirby, Lipscomb, Draper, Burgess, Easterwood families all had roots from the same Union/Spartanburg Co. SC area.
SMITH Genforum message # 30450 shows details of James Marion Smith's children. Just today I FINALLY found his daughter Trizer after marrying Rad M. MARTIN - they moved to Van Zandt Co. TX by 1880 census.
Try as I may, I never have been able to track down James Marion Smith's parents. I know his SMITH parents must have lived near all the other families I noted above. Do you have any additional info on him? Pat
