Rick:
Thanks for the information.I shall try to get a fix from academics here. (It so happens that our main authority on English glass lives ten miles away and is a {busy} friend. If you will indulge my laziness and repeat the exact name and location of the church, this friend may well find all the necessary documentation in her library as soon as she gets home.At the moment she is at a convention -- in California!)
Meanwhile, since Don is not entirely happy with Morris (about whom I know nothing), and I am less than happy about the heraldry of the Eyton windows (until there is expert opinion available), my counsel is to relax on the matter and not to build further on hypotheses yet a while. It would be sad to get up to the tenth storey (and the twentieth story) only to find that the foundations were never laid.
I am fast becoming the albatross about the Eaton neck; though my intention is not taxidermy but high flight, because I have every reason to think that the Eatons are a rare family in their potential ability to trace an actual lineage, however often the names may change. My caution is based on the fact that I daily see (and this is no further mixing of mepaphor) what happens to fledglings who leave the nest in our thatch roof before they have checked their equipment fully. And so we have two fat cats.
Alan Garner.
