Great Swamp is near Spinnerstown, in Milford Twp as you know.
I came upon this site because I have a search going regarding an ancestor Verena Eberhard who was the wife of Hans Ulrich Arner. These two came on the ship Mercury in 1735 where she is listed as Verena Eberhard. They came with 4 of their children from near Zurich with the Reverend Moritz Goetschy and the Goetschy party.
Hans and Verena first lived in the New Goschenhoppen area, and were connected with the new Goschenhoppen Church in Pennsburg, about 6 miles from Great Swamp Church. The custom with newcomers into Philadelphia was to advertise for relations in Pa. for placement of the newcomers. I ran across the Eberhards in Milford, and think they may be related to these Eberhards, but we have no proof.
Also on the ship is a listing for Barbara Eberhard. Since some of the married women were listed under their maiden names, she could have been the wife of someone on board, but this is unlikely since she was stated to be traveling single, age 30. Another Eberhard on board was a Regula Eberhard. We have not found Regula or Barbara, but one of the daughters of Joseph Eberhard in Milford was a Barbara and another a Verona or Veronica. The Milford Eberhards, all arriving in 1727, were;
Joseph, father of the family Michael, Joseph, Jacob, John, Peter, Abraham Veronica, married to Philip Dosch, Elizabeth married to Michael Bleyler and Barbara, married to george Fischer. Two grandchildren are also listed, Anna Margaretha Hornecker and Joseph Hornecker.How the Hornecker surname got there with none of the daughter's married to a Hornecker is a question, but it is likely that one of the girls was widowed early and remarried, or one daughter, deceased before the will, died and left these children.
Any thoughts on these Eberhards and my Eberhard quandry appreciated.
