Yes, that would be the question, and I don't have an answer yet, but perhaps this will provide greater insight into where to look, hopefully.
"and his wife (it likely would have been his 2nd marriage too, according to the 1830 census) was Catherine (Ebner) ..."
yup, the other question.I can identify two Catherine Ebners of this era and I think I know a bit about both of them, although it certainly does not preclude other Catherines from being in this family, more like it indicates there should be, by popular consensus:
1) George Cooper was born in 1800/1810.
George married Catherine Ebner, daughter of Conrad Ebner and Catharina Wertman, and sister of Conrad Jr (below). Catherine was born (I estimate) about 1802 in PA. She died about 1835.
I know of three children, one boy and two girls that were born 1820-1830, perhaps two of them were twins.
George also married Sarah [Cooper] about 1840. Sarah was born about 1812 in PA.
They had the following children. iv. Abraham Cooper was born about 1845 in PA. v. Hannah Cooper was born about 1848 in PA.
It seems like I know more about this family, but I am not recalling it at the moment.
2) Frederick Rosamond Wohlfarth was born on 16 Aug 1801 in Germany. He died on 11 Jul 1884 in Sunbury, Northumberland, PA.
Frederick married Catherine Ebner, daughter of Conrad Ebner Jr and Catherine [Ebner], about 1838. Catherine was born about 1822 in Buckhorn, Columbia, PA
They had the following children. i. Abraham Wohlfarth was born about 1839 in PA. ii. Angelina Wohlfarth was born about 1841 in PA. iii. Rebecca Wohlfarth was born in 1843 in PA. iv. Mary Melinda Wohlfarth was born on 16 Jan 1850. She died on 2 Feb 1929. v. Jordan F Wohlfarth was born on 24 Feb 1853. vi. Sarah Wohlfarth.
