From "The Times" newspaper; London, England; October 3, 1916..page 6, column 3
"SECOND LIEUTENANT FREDERICK ST. JOHN FORD NORTH ECHLIN, Royal Fusiliers and Royal Flying Corps, was killed in action on September 26.He was in the Malay States on the outbreak of war, and came home and volunteered for service. He was gazetted to the Royal Fusiliers and afterwards transferred to the R.F.C., quickly gaining his pilot's certificate. In March last he married the daughter of Major Saumarez Dobree', of Ronceval, Guernsey. His commanding officer has written to say that "he was with us only a very short time, but I have heard how he threw up his job as equipment officer because he thought he ought to be doing more.He was a brave man."
