Hi tom, I had contacted you some time ago about Edward Eckles who was from Amelia co Va and went to Wilkes co Ga. My ancestor was Jane Eckles or Echols who was born in 1779 according to an 1850 Tallapoosa co Al census. It said she was born in NC but I don't know if that is correct. I am trying to find who her parents were. I found a record where a Daniel B Head sold land to Edward Eckles and his wife Jane land in Wilkes co Georgia in 1798. Jane Echols or Eckles married Solomon Ray in 1796 in Wilkes co Ga. Edward Eckles lived very close to Solomon Ray. I can not find a lot of infrmation about Edward Eckles in Wilkes co Ga except that he died in 1829. If you have time to help me it would be apprecited. I know your book is not indexed so I know it might take too long to try and find Edward Eckles who went to Wilkes co Ga in it but if you have time it would be greatly appreciated. These are some questions you might be able to help me with if you don't mind.
Was Edward, son of Edward Eckles in Amelia co Va, the only one of Edward's sons to go to Wilkes co Ga?
Would you know about when he went to Ga?
Would you know who the children of Edward Eckles were?
Did Edward Eckles Sr have a son that died that could have been the father of Jane born 1779 and one of his other sons raised her. Of course that son of Edward Sr would have had to go to Georgia since that is where Jane married Solomon Ray in 1796 when she was about 17 years old.
Sometimes therer is a connection in the naming pattern of children. Solomon and Jane named their children William,John,Ransom,Elija,Silas,Solomon Jr and their only diaghter was named Nancy.
Any help you could give me would be appreciated. thanks, Ross
