I am in possession of a small Bible written in Germany. It is in very bad shape but the gold clasps have the initials "J.C.R." and "1785" inscribed on them. There isn't anything spectacular about the Bible, but inside I found a folded piece of paper that is a descendancy chart on Claus Eckmann who married Elrohe Rowers in 1665. (Her name might be spelled wrong)Their children were: Hans b)1666, Jacob b)1668, Claus b)1668, Bretche b)1673, Jochim b)1673, Jurgen b)1680 d)1761, and Trinke b)1692. This chart goes on for 5 more generations. It is very complete with names, but the dates stop after the third generation. This would be a wonderful find for anyone connected with this family. The last generation shows that many of them ended up in Nebraska and South Dakota. It is my goal to get this info to anyone connected with this family. The paper was definately written prior to the days of ball point pens.Because there is some German words on here, it is difficult for me to decipher it all.I am not related to the Eckmann's at all, so I have no use for the info. Anyone who would like a photo copy of this document is welcome to have it by sending me a SASE.Please contact me for instructions. The original and the Bible will be given to anyone who can be determined to be related. I will ask only reimbursement for postage to mail.
