Ther are two Jacob Eckman in the same County miliata in different Units the War of 1812. One a private one a Captain. The unit on line for the private is wrong, I went to the county seat and found the book that showed the orginal unit its not what ancestory, com shows, I late found in a nearby Virginia county information on Esquire Jacob Eckmoa and then later Captain Jacon Eckman that matches up.and he has 2 slaves and a blacksmith shop he trying to sell off, I never added that information and I forget the date but its in a drawer somewhere. ,Its a odd things but Jacon Eckman in 1830 in Hamilton county also show he has a blacksmith show and 2 slave. Is it a father & son are is the Capain in Maryland and in Ohio the same man. They were both blacksmith, both had the same amount of slaves.Jacob Eckmangrave show that he was in the War of 1812, wish they had put his rank down. From the infot I got on the Lind they seme to be from a little better class of people then the dirt farmer. So it likely a former Captain from VA rather then a Private from VA woould have a better chance ofmarrying there daughter? But then my Great Grandfather who was a dirt poor frmer married Jacob Eckman sister ! That why I always leaned toward the fact that he was the Private rather then the Captain!
Miami Township dug up every soldiers they could get to about 1880-1885 and moved them to Maple Grove Cem, for there Sodiers Ring. Jacob Eckman got dug up and moved to the Soldiers Ring at Maple Grove along with his son who was in the Civil War.No peace for a soldier even in death.
